Engagement
Engagement
Family engagement is an interactive process through which program staff and families, family members, and their children build positive and goal-oriented relationships.
Children are at the heart of family engagement in Early Childhood and Head Start.
Family engagement is the shared responsibility of families and all EC/HS staff. Staff should reach out to parents and try to connect in order to build positive goal-oriented relationships.
Families must work towards goals that will help them move forward in their lives and provide a positive environment for their children. This requires mutual respect and an understanding of the role that each one plays in a child’s life.
We understand the challenges and obstacles you face and can help you brainstorm what might work well for your program and the families you serve.
We offer the following to programs as they work with parents and families.
We can help you think of ways to…. Communicate… Build Relationships…. Support Goal-Setting… Establish data tracking systems.
